The Scientists

Meet the Dedicated Scientists

Marine scientists from multiple disciplines and agencies are advancing our work. Their goal is to collaborate through Pacific Fish Trax projects to create healthy marine ecosystems where salmon populations are strong. This, in turn, provides consumers with a stream of high quality fish brought to market.

These scientists have made great advances to their research and studies over the years. What's particularly innovative about their engagement in Pacific Fish Trax though, is that they are helping us to peak the cross-discipline sharing of information.

Now the scientists are increasing their understanding of the salmon and its habitat through new advances in collaboration, and not just their own area of research. The scientists share their research in the study of fish scales, DNA and otolith structures. They also track several conditions of the Pacific Ocean's marine ecosystem where the salmon swim. Fishermen then share their findings, resulting in a supportive cycle of information that grows.

All this communication and collaborative study helps to improve the habitat and to balance between the needs of the ecosystem and the humans who rely on it.
